Default So, who else hates this event?

I realized how dumb this is, so I deleted everything except the part about pets. I still think that was fairly significant error by Anet.

4) Loss of Pets- Anet, what the firetruck is wrong with you!? Did you even test the PvP arena before writing code that permanently removes the pet from anyone who plays the dragon arena!? God, I'm pissed about that.

Well the 250 for the orbs is REALLY REALLY EASY. You can solo all the quests that are given. There are 4 and total up to 240. Just get the rest through the arena. Its not hard at all. The rest are opinion

Honestly? I'm not a huge fan of it. But it's different, it's free, it gives rewards... there are no negatives to it, other than potential bugs.

3) Festival Rewards- Why should I have to spend 25 of my expensive tickets for a single event item? This is too much. At Wintersday, they popped out everywhere, there were tons of items. If this is a way to prevent too many items from entering the game's economy for some reason, it will definitely work.
At least you don't have to farm them <_< Many present boxes open up to a salable item that sells for 175 less than the amount of tickets it cost. However, some present boxes also open up to 1k gold, which is 66 more tickets. It doesn't even out, but it won't set you too far into the red if all you want are the Jade Orbs.
In the end, it's a gold sink. I actually enjoy opening the presents, so meh.

All I can say is, oops >_>

You get them while playing naturally, a plus. You can get them for free by playing in the arena. You can get them cheaply by playing the wurm catching game (if you're any good at it, anyway). If any of the above don't suit you, you can buy them from festival rewards.

I'd like for it to be lower, but at the same time, I won't complain about this one.

They're a ticket, and in turn, gold sink. People enjoy gambling in real life as well, for who knows why. Some people will win more than they invest. In the end though, anyone with a little time and logic will understand that the odds in these games are set such that you will lose out, on average.

Once the newness wore off, and the realization of the losses vs payout, I got rather bored of it. It's a game of chance, stacked for the players to lose.

In the end, the entire event is optional, and while I think Anet could have done a better job on parts of it, and I'll make the suggestions another time, it doesn't effect anyone that doesn't like it, because it doesn't interrupt normal gameplay unless you let it.

The real issue with this event is the deletion of pets. My rage has subsided somewhat, but lets be serious. Failing to detect such a tremendous flaw before releasing it on the live server is a failure on Anet's part. I highly doubt that this is reversable, short of doing a re-roll, but that isn't going to happen.

Everything else that I don't like doesn't matter. I'm just grumpy about losing my pet. In the morning I'll grab myself a new pet, and stop hating the event.

Well so far I like most everything about the event. My only frustation is the absence of traders, that offer presents/wine/whatever in exchage for monster drops.

I figured this event would be like the halloween/christmas so I bought 2k mantid pincers in anticipation. I'm now out 14k but I guess thats the cost of gambling. So much for my cheap plan on getting the drunkard title.
